Short Breaks Outreach and Participation
Following meetings with Together for Disabled Children and many discussions with Local Authorities, Include Me TOO has highlighted many disabled children and their families particularly from BME communities are not benefiting from the Short Breaks provisions. We are currently piloting a project to look at addressing this in the West Midlands we are hoping to extend this pilot to three other Local Authority areas.
My Family, My Culture
My Family My Culture Events held once a year: (Resources are being currently developed to support other agencies and groups to deliver these activities)Disabled Children and young people and their families are consulted i.e. views and input on the Include Me TOO Children’s Charter and sharing their vision on how the Charter can be active in supporting their rights and reflecting on the Five Key areas of Every Child Matters. There are workshops using different arts to support consultation process ensuring access, diversity and inclusion.
Disabled Childrens Rights
Include Me TOO joins UNICEF Right Respecting Schools Award
UNICEF have been rolling out the Rights Respecting School Award over the last few years. Include Me TOO are working in partnership with UNICEF to support the existing programme to achieve Disabled Children Rights Respecting Schools (DCRRS) status.
Early Support Program
Include Me TOO has been working closely with Early Support Programme promoting the need to consider and engage with disabled children outside their impairment requirements.
